Holiday Crap

I've been so good about not eating sweets. And then a bazillion people gave me Christmas presents today that all involved cookies, chocolate, and/or nuts in some way. It's bad. I shipped half of the stuff to my grandmother's house just so I don't have the temptation.

Who is done with Christmas shopping? Me. I'm usually not one for passive aggressive gifts that make a statement as to what the giftee should or should not like, but I did travel down that road this year for my brothers. They are still jobless and living with my parents while their eyes are glued to video games every day, all day. I usually buy them video games or a gift card to purchase video games. This year I was going to get them gift cards to Blockbuster, but I thought they'd end up renting effin' video games in order to continue to waste their lives. So, I got them gift certificates to the movie theater. It'll be enough to see a few movies without consuming all their time, some of which should be spent, umm, working like the rest of us.

And the 30-day meme...

Day 22 → A website

Last.fm is a great place to track your music. It will keep a record of all music you listen to on your computer (Windows Media Player, iTunes) or on your iPod. It's terribly neat to see the different musical moods you slide in and out of over a period of time.

Go you! I'm done, too. Not that I did much besides buy gift certificates for everyone.

From personal experience, your brothers won't change until they have no choice. Which just makes you go argh.

My brothers are a hot mess. They sit at home all day, eat loads of food, and play video games. My mom works over 40 hours a week, cooks/cleans for them, and drives them wherever they need to go. And on top of all that, she pays for their medication because they have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and a vitamin D deficiency. It's beyond ridiculous, really. My dad is trying to pull strings and get them a job where he works, and I've been very vocal about how that is a BAD idea, but no one cares to listen to me. It really wasn't so annoying when I was in Albuquerque and didn't see all this going on, but now that I'm living a few miles from them, the lack of motivation my brothers have and the lengths to which my mother lets them take advantage of her makes my blood boil.

I'm having the same problem with my sister. She lets my nephew (her son) walk all over her and supports his lazy ass. I understand about enabling...I did it myself for a long time.
